i saw this on the forum, its a really good idea, i think it should be a feature to add, some simple regex to tell wich stuff will not be translated into CE and wich people custom emoticons will not be shown.

could be something like

global=[a-z],[A-Z],de,que
users=dx@dxzone.com.pe,roger@rogersoft.dx

we match the tokens of a message before trying to replace it to a custom emoticon (with the re module), also we see if the user is in the anoying list.

It should be more dynamic.. with a dialog to add/edit/remove rules

The character class-based rules are very effective, we should provide some predefined ones
